How to Get Hunter Education Certified in Georgia

March 14, 2026

Georgia is one of the easiest states to get hunter education certified. The course can be completed entirely online with no minimum age requirement and no in-person field day. It's approved by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and certified by IHEA-USA.

How to Get Certified

  • Format: 100% online
  • Field day: Not required
  • Minimum age: None
  • Duration: 4-6 hours at your own pace
  • Certificate: Issued immediately; never expires

Who Needs It?

Georgia requires hunter education for anyone born on or after August 28, 1961. If you were born before that date, you're exempt but may still choose to take the course.

Hunting in Georgia

Georgia provides excellent white-tailed deer and wild turkey hunting across coastal marshes, piedmont forests, and Blue Ridge Mountains. The state consistently ranks among the top for deer harvest with generous bag limits.
