How to Get Hunter Education Certified in Arizona

March 14, 2026

Arizona allows hunters age 10 and older to complete hunter education entirely online — no in-person field day required. The course is approved by Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) and certified by IHEA-USA.

How to Get Certified

  • Minimum age: 10 years old
  • Format: 100% online, no field day
  • Duration: Approximately 4-6 hours at your own pace
  • Certificate: Issued immediately upon passing the final exam; never expires

The course covers firearm safety, Arizona hunting regulations, wildlife conservation, and ethical hunting practices. You can save your progress and return at any time.

Age Requirements

The minimum age to enroll in Arizona hunter education is 10 years old. Children under 10 may hunt only when accompanied by a licensed, certified adult hunter as required by Arizona law.

Your Certificate Works Everywhere

Because the Arizona course is IHEA-approved, your certificate is recognized in all other U.S. states and Canadian provinces through reciprocity. Get certified once and hunt anywhere.

Hunting in Arizona

Arizona offers unique desert and mountain hunting for mule deer, Coues deer, elk, pronghorn, javelina, bighorn sheep, and mountain lion across terrain ranging from Sonoran Desert to alpine forests.
