How to Get Hunter Education Certified in North Carolina
North Carolina requires hunter education for all first-time hunters. The state offers online-only certification for ages 16 and older, while younger hunters complete an additional Internet Field Day component.
Certification Paths
- Ages 16+: Complete the entire course online. No in-person attendance required.
- Under 16: Complete the online course, then attend an approximately 4-hour Internet Field Day for hands-on skills evaluation.
The course is approved by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) and certified by IHEA-USA.
