Frequently Asked Questions
How do I replace a lost hunter education card?
Contact the wildlife agency of the state where you were certified — most states offer a free or low-cost online lookup that lets you reprint your card or certificate. Use the official replacement link for your state in the table on this page.
Do I need the physical card to buy a hunting license?
Usually not — most license systems verify your certification electronically once it's on file. Some states and some out-of-state purchases still ask for your certificate number, which the replacement portals can retrieve.
Does a hunter education certificate expire?
No. Hunter education certification is valid for life in every US state, so you never retake the course — you only need to recover your certificate number or card.
What if I was certified in a different state?
Request the replacement from the state where you originally took the course — certification is reciprocal, so once recovered it's honored in all 50 states.
Never got certified? Find your state's approved course and get certified once, for life.
